The Avengers
Four years ago...
When the Asgardian god of tricks Loki deceived the incredible Hulk into going on a rampage four other heroes answered the call to stop the rampaging monster.
Loki’s brother the mighty Thor, Tony Stark the invincible Iron Man, Hank Pym the shrinking Ant-Man and his partner Janet Van Dyne the Wasp joined forces to stop the Hulk and convinced him of Loki’s evil. Together the group beat the evil scheme of Loki and sent him back where he had come from. Ant-Man suggested the group stay together and form a team which Wasp suggested naming them the Avengers.
The general public first regarded the new team somewhat uneasily. Much of this distrust on the monstrous Hulk, who soon quit the team in a fit of rage. The group's image improved dramatically after they discovered the long dormant war hero Captain America frozen in a suspended animation at the north pole. The Avengers recruited the awoken Captain America, who has become a cornerstone of the Avengers.
Present...
Iron Man has provided the group with financing and high-tech equipment donating his Manhattan residence, including butler Edwin Jarvis, to serve as their headquarters the Avengers Mansion. The team has drawn up a charter and by-laws to guide the team, and have been given A-1 security clearance from the federal government.
As set by their new charter the team’s members are free to come and go as they please, and the roster will be ever changing. However all Avengers have sworn to this oath.
Be it known that we, the Avengers, have banded together to protect and safeguard the planet Earth, its inhabitants and resources, from any and all threats, terrestrial or otherwise, which are or might prove to be beyond the power of conventional forces to handle. That we shall brook no interference in the growth of mankind in meeting its rightful destiny. That we dedicate ourselves to the establishment, growth, and preservation of peace, liberty, equality, and justice under law. This is our solemn oath.
